Anyone close to Murrietta or Temecula? Starting my search for a home, now that the market is down I am looking for a good community with good schools. All suggestions are welcome even in different areas, but am trying to keep it closer to San Diego. The commute is going to suck, but it is going to be worth it!

There are some great bargains in this area ( Temecula/Murrieta). We were over at a friends house in Redhawk , which is in Temecula, a few weeks ago and a house in that neighborhood that that sold for over $700.000 3 years ago just sold for $280,000 as a bank owned foreclosure.

As far as the commute-It is getting better as the work on the 15 is progressing. You can figure 1 hour to downtown SD on a good day. I have been doing it off and on for the last 8 years and all it takes is a comfortable ride and some good tunes:).

last thing- A good thing about living up here is that it puts you closer to the Desert, Big Bear and the Sierras. If you are into that kind of stuff;).

Good luck,

Yep, there are some good deals down that way.... we chose Corona because we work in OC and the commute everyday to Temecula, Elsinore or Murrieta would suck really bad. We also could have bought a big house vs. a condo we are in. Oh well, cant have it all. Good luck with your search. It's a buyers market right now!

I do enjoy that kind of stuff, being from Colorado I miss the "real out doors." This may be trivial to some but what about schools, crime, etc.....I know it will not be perfect but being in military housing has spoiled me with security. Thanks for the replies now I just need some time off to do some real hunting!

Giulitto,

We have no kids in the schools up here, but most of the people I know who have kids in the local schools are happy. Temecula and Murrietta are nice areas- we have a large military population with Pendleton close by. You may also want to check out the Fallbrook area.

Happy Hunting;)
