Hi anybody knows good shop where i can completely rebuild my front axle?thx

I will vote for Johns skills.. He helped me redo my front on the 40 and made it seam simple..

Use and abuse him!

Do you need to do the knuckles or are you wanting to do the diff bearings and/or gears too.

I know a guy who will do the knuckles with trunion bearings, wheel bearings, and axle seals for $1200.

I'm tired of doing them better and cheaper than a dealer. I can do one or the other.

My front end developed driveline whine while on the gas,i taught it was the tranny but after disconnecting front drive shaft, the whine went away,so its a probably the pinion bearing or bearings, not sure .Also my right knuckle started leaking grease(oil ?).

2k ,my fj is not worth 2k:)

Sure, because it has a front end whine and a leaking knuckle. $2100, refuse my service again and Ill raise to $2200. :D

Time to get a shop manual and get a little greasey.

Thats include new gear set and locker?

Thx guys, you have been very helpful.

Wattya want? We don't know anybody other than the dealer, who can do a fine job. We do our own. I'll do yours, but not for any less than the dealer.

"come do some s***ty dirty work for me for little money". I think thats what he wants.

To the op, just do what we all do, read evreything on the internet related to this, buy tools, beer, and have it. Post pics and questions when you get stuck, then flame newbs and charge them money to do it for them like the rest of us after you have masterd it.

Redoing the knuckles to fix your leak really isn't an overly difficult job, though it takes some time and can be kinda messy. Even with that, a one banana person could push their skills a little and knock it out in a weekend if they were so inclined. Like slander says, if you don't want to pay someone who's done several, like 4rnr, Gumby or the dealer, start reading up on it, buy the FSM and parts and do it yourself.

Actually doing some stuff is the only way your one banana skills can grow to two or more bananas. If you get stuck, there are people here who will help by answering questions.

Setting and possibly replacing the pinion bearings/installing a new gear set and/or locker is a little more involved, though it has been done well by shade tree mechanics before.

Contact Tom at TNT4x4 in Marseilles IL. I'm not sure how hard he will be to contact or what he can do right now, he is currently building a new shop.

I will bet he will not be cheap either.

There's no point in being cheap. It gets you nowhere. I'm done with it.

Me too. Though I find that I am easily tricked. Show up at my house, fill me with rum and grub, maybe a stogie or two, then I start working on stuff for fun. Then my work is s*** though.
