Live in the western burbs and have 1980 fj40 and 1994 fj80.....need help with someone that knows these trucks. Anybody know somebody good and reliable?

Euromotive in Lagrange has some good competent mechanics. But seriously guys, it's a Toyota. It has an engine and wheels and seats just like any other car on the road. There's nothing special about these where you need some fancy guru to tell you when your muffler bearings are going or blinker fluid is low...

Thanks for the info regarding Euromotive in LaGrange Mr. Bryan.

Not speaking for the others, I gotta say, I'm not looking for a fancy Guru for muffler bearings or blinker fluid. I need a COMPETENT AND TRUSTWORTHY mechanic willing to replace my engine...something way beyond my abilities and interest. I am seriously considering selling my FJ because I CAN'T seem to find anyone willing to do that. And what better place than on a forum of Toyota aficionados...So, please...stop with the eye rolls people!, when some of us 'FJ Lovers' who happen NOT to be gurus of all things Toyota seek your guru input.

The majority of the guys on here are going to do that over a weekend in their garage at home, hence the eye rolls. I would think most shops would be capable of something like that, but I'd say anytime you're looking for a new business, check google/bing/yelp reviews and see how many people bitch; use that as your gauge. Get a few different quotes. Derek at euromotive is a good guy. Prices are reasonable and they warranty their work if they use their own parts. He's typically my go to when I'm too lazy to do it myself.

We are always happy to help when we can. The eye rolls are at the fact that this question gets asked often and a simple search would reveal that we are not experienced with local mechanics. I definitely understand not being willing to work on stuff, to each his own.

That being said.... how much for the cruiser with the bad motor?? :)

If you mean Miss Kitty, asking $17,000...negotiable.

Let me tell you something. You pull any of your crazy s*** with us, you flash a piece out in the parking lot, I'll take it away from you, stick it up your ass and pull the ****ing trigger 'til it goes "click" .

Jesus!

Someone send Tom a text and explain that last one to him.
