I've been kicking around the idea of getting rid of our expedition and finding an fj. Looking for 90's model, prefer cheap, would not bother me if motor was blown. Planning on building suspension for it along with bumpers, racks, etc. Have been watching Craigslist, but wanted to check in with you guys as well.

Any years or models to stay away from?

Know anybody that's trying to get rid of one?

Thanks
Clint

Some 80s came with a full floater rear axle which would be a bonus but don't know the years. Have you looked at MUD classifieds?

Try to get a 96 or 97. And see if your cab get one with a many maintenance records as possible. The factory lockers are a bonus as well if you can get them.

There were a couple updates to the 80 series but I think the biggest change was the switch in engines. I think that was 93 but I'm not certain.

Not yet. Think I found my project. 93 blown motor needs some work 800 bucks. Will know Monday.

My old 1994 is up for sale. The college kid I sold it to about 4 years ago is looking to sell it. It is fully loaded......sunroof, leather seats, 8 passenger seating, factory diff lockers. I think you could pick it up for around $4,000. I has sold it to him for $5,000 4 years ago. He lives in Vail but is in college in Boulder.
