Hello people

Im looking for information on V6 landcruisers and if I can find one in SoCal, preferably with a manual transmission.

Recently came back from the middle east and saw some pretty powerful turbo manual tranny cruisers running 10 second quarter miles.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Other than engine swaps, I have not seen any V6 Land Cruisers. In the middle east they get wagons (80 and 100 series) with 4.5 liter inline 6's with 5-speeds behind them. Unfortunately, anything past 1988, had an automatic from the factory for North America. There is an aftermarket supercharger and a couple turbo systems, but I don't know if the turbo's are legal in California. However, if you swap in a turbo diesel, then you can avoid smog and also drop in a 5-speed.

It's funny, I see many adds listing Land Cruisers with V6's simply because the used car sales people have no clue that the V indicates the engine configuration. As far as I know, Toyota never put a V6 in the Land Cruiser. The exception may be the Prado which shares its roots in the 4Runner...and of course the FJ Cruiser which is not technically a Land Cruiser. Any of the LC's running around with the 4500 badge on the back would be running the 4.5l I6. I saw bunches of those in Dubai...100's included. I just wish we could get the part time transfer case used in the 80 series LC's I saw over there. They had 5-speeds, locking hubs...they get all the good stuff. Oh well. : )
