I have decided to get rid of my FJ and get something a little older to play with. It will be my daily driver, but seeing as I work from home it will not be driven very far each day. I just have to pick up my kids from school.

I have always wanted a 40 but since I do carpool, I am not sure I can get 3 kids 3 backpack and band instruments into the truck comfortably.
I tried to buy a 55 but while in price negotiations the owner accepted a full price offer from another person.
So I think I would like to try an 80 series. I have looked at a couple, but all have been stock. If you know of any semi built, please let me know.

Thanks
Dave

im working on an 87 60 that will be for sale soon,, slightly modded, new frame, motor has great compression, some rust on lower body but the paint otherwise is good, interior is great... lots of work done to it, new trans/xfer/engine gaskets and seals, rebuilt front and rear axle, diff seals and gaskets, ss soft brake lines, new brakes, ss clutch soft line, lspv, new shocks, 2-3 inch lift, extended shackles, new exhaust, I know I did more but cannot think of it all right now...can have 33" newish tires on it,,newer stereo already in it

I watched the restore thread of her 55. It is a very nice truck. Unfortunately it is out of my budget and I would hate to low ball her to get into my budget range.

3pits I have looked at a few 60's and really want something different. That's why I looked at the 55's first.

Thanks
Dave

Well i bought the wife a Jetta TDI last night so she now has the family car and i can look for something a bit more fun. So i think i am going to start 40 shopping. If you know of any for sale let me know. I want one with a hard top 2f and 4 speed preferably.

Thanks
Dave

there is a red hard top 40 listed in the G'ville craigslist. New paint inside and out. Don't remember the price

That one looks like it has promise, turn signals are kind of janky, but those can be fixed pretty easy. It is a '77 so should have all the newer stuff ie. shoulder belts disc brakes etc... Things you'd want to upgrade if you got an older one that didn't have all that. It might have some projecty things that need to be done, but that is part of the fun! He said it had some carb hesitation, well I know someone here in the club that sells excellent 2F carbs, so that shouldn't be a problem...
