For the 2nd time in 1 year the Charlotte streets have claimed Andreas car. She's ok just banged up with a sprained wrist and friction burn from the air bag.

It's going to be a totaled so the search is on for another cheap, reliable dd

Al, hate to hear this but glad Andrea is okay. Are there any specifics besides cheap realiable DD? At this point do you know a ballpark price you are searching within?

Dude - that sucks! Happy to hear she wasn't hurt too badly, and hope she won't be too sore tomorrow. I really loved my '01 Jetta 1.8t - no idea what they are going for, but I was getting around 30+ mpg and it had some good pep, and looked pretty good doing it.

Depends on what insurance pays out but i'm guessing about 3k

I've seen a few camrys and volvos that seem to fit the bill.

200 series volvos are tanks

Sorry to hear Al, glad to hear that Andrea is OK.

I agree with the Volvo, Heather drives a 99 S80 with 189K on it and it us a great car. 33MPG on the highway. Very comfortable vehicle. You could not pry that car out of her cold dead hands.

What are the odds, even in Charlotte? Wow! Like everyone else, I'm glad she is okay.

If you find a used Honda you and Andrea like, the guys at Compact Car on Independence have been working on my Hondas for 24 years and would likely look over it for you at no charge. I've had two Accords, a Civic and a Prelude over the years and have always been pleased with Johnny's work.

I wish I could get her to drive a 200 series but she doesn't like that style.... she would do a newer one but I don't know much about them so looks like i've got some researching to do :grinpimp:

Ah, my Focus bit the bullet? Glad she's OK! You guys still coming down this weekend?

Tentative at this moment

Yeah most likely it would be a miracle if they didn't write it off.
But 15-20 mph into a tree will do that. The car in front of her all of a sudden just locked up their brakes (nothing in front of them). She couldn't stop in time so tried to swerve around.... fish tailed, spun around (managed to miss on coming traffic) and slammed into a tree. Then the A-hole that caused it all peeled out and left her there. After she went up on the curb and smacked the tree it rolled back into traffic but luckily the residents on the street helped her and directed traffic around till the cops and paramedics arrived. It was only about 1 1/2 miles on the same street (west) that the last wreck happened.

It seems every time I put money into a car it gets wrecked. Just did new tires, tune up and replace one A arm that was tweaked from before.

With the matrix I just replaced 2 tires and a $900 ecu for it right before that happened

This time I think it would be cheaper to let the car fall apart and then just replace :grinpimp:

Yeah she is doing ok....was at the hospital till 1030 last night and she has a bad burn on her hand but other than that she's ok.

Dang! Glad to hear she is okay.

Sounds like someone was trying to get her to rearend her for some insurance/lost wages/disability money....

04 grand 5500!!!

Like everyone else, I'm really glad she's ok.

Can't go wrong with a used Camry, Accord, Civic, etc.
