NO.... not me. My sister in Idaho is. My dreams of a 100 series for Andrea disappeared when I sat in the drivers seat and realized her Focus and my 80 had more leg room.

Which means I know squat about them and seeing that she is in Idaho I can't go look at the truck myself.

I've read Slee's newbie guide on them.

What are some things to look out for on the model.... can't quite remember the year she said it was.

Are there any weak points to the 470's ?? Common failures???

Exhaust manifold failure? I know thats an issue with Cruisers. My father in law has one with 70,000 miles on it and has had both sides replaced at Scott Clark. The other day he came by and I could hear a tick coming from under the hood again.
Might ask if the O2 sensors, Starter, Timing belt, Coil packs, have been replaced.

Good luck finding one. We have been looking hard for 2 weeks now, as far as 600 miles. Most the ones we found are either sketchy service history (AHC issues), norhtern rust buckets, or overpriced for our liking. AHC is a issue, so make sure it works properly. Very expensive sensors and actuators.

most do not replace the AHC. Mine has almost 200k miles on it. When it goes it will just be OME 2.5 heavy. Much cheaper than the AHC.

also, make sure that the 90 or 180 maintenance is done if it is near that mileage. It is rather pricey. As far as the exhaust manifold. Almost all of them are cracked. There are no adverse effects though other than a little ticking in the winter. Doug Thorley does make and aftermarket replacement if you want to replace it.

They've got a few that they're looking at... I won't be able to see it as i'm 3000 miles away so I just need to give them as much info as possible.

I believe Justus still has all his AHC stuff he took out for his lift that he was selling for pretty cheap... if that helps you any.

What is in the 90k and 180k service??

minus the snorkel. That was my invoice from IPOR for the 180k service. That did not include the parts i had already bought, idler pully, tentioner, belt and a list of others needed.

None of them have over 120k..... what is the 90k service???

same as above. that service just needs to be done every 90k.

What year?

To echo the rest and some considerations:

-03+ gets you the 5-speed
-06 and 07 gets the VVTi motor
-I can't recall if it applied to the LX, but the 2000 year LC had a slightly higher transmission failure rate than the rest with the A343.
-Exhaust manifold leaks possible on 98-05
-90K service done?

2000 on also have a much stronger front end. Pre 2000 can grenade with little stress. Apparently the 5 speed makes a big difference too. My 2000 is slooow with sock gears and 33s. The '06 comes with an atlas 2 transfer case, maybe.

OEM, stock, sock, whatever you want to call them.

We looked for a 470 for my pops to dd, and never found one for the right price...

I found this 99 100 series local a couple months ago and so far it has been great. Rear locker and sub 150k w/ full service records.

Al, I mentioned it in the thread about Emma's new ride, but have you considered a GX470. It's a little smaller but has the same 4.7 / A750F 5-speed / VF4BM TCase. Really nice options in stock form, considerably less coin, and 30k/year were sold here so finding one is way easier. Obviously not the right rig if it's ever going to be built (LX is the obvious choice there) Just a thought.

I'll pass that along to my sister (don't think you ever have to worry about her building it)

Awesome deal. Nobody around here would budge on price At all. She got that at like 60% of blue book.
