A local called me back with a 62 for sale and went and looked at it.I have been looking for a 62 for my Dad.He told me the transmission needs rebuilt. The transmission is making a whining noise just with it in park and changes as you rev the gas. I went for a drive in it and it is slipping bad. Also the 4 drive light was on and after reading that other thread by spook I bypassed the lines and it went out. But he has been driving around for months with the light on and wheels unlocked. It seems like doing this would put more stress on tc.
Could the transmission just need a good flush? It has 240K miles.
How bad is it to pull the tranmssion on these? Should I skip it or persue it more? The engine is strong with a recent rebuild.
