my 3 year old tossed my truck keys into the storm drain
in front of the house and that's right no spare set. (opps)
i'm having a little trouble spending $130 bucks to re-key
my $1000 beater F250 so i'm thinking brick to the window
and a big a$$ toggle switch...

...i'm such a hillbilly at heart :hillbilly:

Ouch...I'd try a slim jim before smashing the window...but I'm sure you thought of that.

Can you take the vin to Ford and have a new key made? I've done that on my Toy....

ford says it's to old to get a key from the vin...

...guess they're not used to fords being around for more than 4 or 5 years. :D

think this may become my official piss and moan thread.
ordered a bigger RRT and it came damaged. sent the shipper
pics and they responded that "they don't see any damage"...

bummer. How about a mobile key service? Check with "Keys to the Kingdom" and see what they could do $.

Unless thier is another key in the truck Im not sure id break in - unless you intend to hotwire it - I dont see the point.

Fords have those wonderful little metal nubs that you cant pull up on, and they put the blocks in the doors so they are a bit hard to slim jim, the windows have a full frame so you cant really get in that way either. You may be able to force a wing window if it has those or bump the rear slider if it is so equipped. You might try to bump the lock with another similar key from something about the same year - older locks are a bit loose and sometimes you can get them to open if you turn and move the key back and forth a bit. I have locksmiths as neighbors but have no idea what the would charge for a new key. Becks Locks if your interested.

Best of luck

Every couple of months I lock myself out of my car.:o At least once, if not twice, in the last year it was a Ford f150. Called USAA for my free roadside assistance, who promptly showed up and used an inflatable bag to create a space between the door and the frame to slip in a tool to open the door. No problems. I know that opening the door is just half of the problem, but if you can pop out the key cylinder from the column you may be able to take it to a locksmith for rekeying. On my 2000 jeep, the mechanism that locks the cylinder in place is a little nub that easily succumbed to a dremel.:p Good luck.
