I have a '95 Landcruiser and the door ajar light on the dash and the courtesy light in the drivers side rear door will not go out. The remote entry unit will not lock the doors and set the security system either. I believe its a faulty contact in the tailgate light switch, but I can't find where the switch is located. Before I start taking things apart and searching, does anyone know where this switch might be?

Thanks

this is the 100 series cruiser pages. year 98-07. i believe the 80 series is what you have. may want to post over there.

I believe that you'll find it in the latch mechanism. In other threads I've seen that you can "trip the latch" to simulate to the switch that the tailgate is closed. HTH

The wiring diagram for the 100 shows the rear hatch switch piggy backed on to the left rear door so of course it could be a faulty door switch or the rear latch switch.

100 TD...bingo. I chased it down earlier today and found the switch in the latch was working ok. Then I noticed the link to the driver's side rear door, and that was the switch that was faulty. I freed up the plunger, but the door still couldn't close far enough to break the circuit, so I added a pieced of thick foam tape to the door opposite the switch until I can get a new switch. works like a charm so far. Thanks to all for the help.
