that's what I'm talkin' about......

aaw hell, you can replace the top and bottom tanks without buying a new radiator all together????!!!!:hhmm:

should have looked in the FSM first it would seem.
oh well, new all around or cobbled together shadetree style, i guess i prefer doing it now right once.

I don't think you can.....

I'd always heard if you broke the nipple on the top you have to replace the whole thing.

that was the first thing to break, 6 months ago, enough left to clamp to.

looking closer it is a VERY INVOLVED deal to re-tank your radiator, better to get one complete. can be done, might be the only option in a pinch if you are in kerdyukistan and have three radiators with one part from each that could be salvaged.;)

half way thru the job tonight, taking my time and doing all the hoses involved in the system. PHHectomy will be last after I have the rest in and my knuckles and arms are good and scraped, just need to pedal down to the local NAPA for green stripe in the morning.

and gearwrenchs

done and done

would have posted sooner but had to go tow the mercedes out of Philomath; master cyl went tango uniform sunday. wish I had the camera with me for that shot, two of the five most reliable rigs on earth, one down for a standing 8 count, being towed by the other bouncing back from an "injury hiatus"

but, I got the PHH-ectomy accomplished, all the hoses, Tstat and the radiator changed out, nothing special to report, the tools I have attached are big helps in the garage:D

#1 is self explanatory,
#2 - get a set of these for your modern hose clamps, you'll thank me. PHH clamp came off like a sardine tin lid, after the gearwrench and prybar attacked the TWO BOLTS? that hold the 7 inch? rigid pipe to the back of the head it was a piece of cake popping that sucker apart; longest part of the job, not counting the bike ride in the rain to NAPA for "green" stripe, (mine is yellow:meh:) and shielded clamps.
#3, you can get at least a gallon in the block this way, probably more if you are willing to let it burp and settle out longer than I gave it.

:banana:and a half:wrench:, more frustrating than changing the belts, but not terrible.

sears, its a remote hose clamp taker offer jobby. works slicker than a big set of plyers everytime unless you can't get it in position.
