Please don't flame me! I am going to probably get a new set of tires on the our Jeep Wrangler Unlimited but I see that most of the tires in the 285/70r17 range are all load range E. I have a used set of "E" 285 KOs on the jeep now that came off a 2500 ram and they are a little stiff and the ride is kinda rough. I know it's a Jeep and it's not going to have a great ride regardless but should I look for some "D" 34x10.5-17 KO2s? I do like the width of the 285s, though. The 34s are a lot more expensive. This Jeep is mostly gonna see highway daily driving miles so I want the longevity and ride of the BFGs and am not really worrying about off road performance right now. BFG is coming out with a rebate in Nov and I'm wondering if the "E" KO2s will be ok if I just leave them at about 32 psi... Are there any other tires that are worth mentioning for my purpose? Any input is greatly appreciated!!!

I put a set of E tires on my van, and realized within 50 feet I was in for a rough ride. I carry a big load on the van, so I just deal with it.
I wouldn't want them on my daily driver, although I drive the van more than any other.
You do realize the E tires are what they run on duelly's. Withthe weight (or lack of) the Jeep, It's going to be rough.
You really only need a B raing weight wise (you won't find any A/T's), so I would look for a C .
Just my 2 cents.

I do realize that!! Unfortunately most of the desireable A/Ts for a 17" rim are only available in E in the 33 or 285 size. I'm thinking it may be worth the extra money to get the 34s in a D... Especially after your input!

I have "E" rated BFG KO2's on my new F150. Stiff? yes. Miserable? no. I aired them down to 38/39psi and it is much nicer. The Wrangler is lighter, so that will play a part. if it were me, I would also look into the new Nitto AT's. G3 something.

Doesn't the "E" come with a much better sidewall? I am running a set on my 80 right now and am fairly impressed. Quiet on the road, good off the road, no failures yet. Much better than the Duratracs that preceded them. These are excellent tires in my opinion.

In the end, you have to decide do you want MTs or ATs. If it's ATs, the BFGs are the pick, at least right now.

I have Cooper Discover AT3's on my Nissan and they've been good tires. My truck sees little time off-pavement, but they've performed well when I needed them to, and the on-road manners have been good. I have the "C" load range tires, fwiw.

Good luck shopping!
