Hi,

anyone out there know what type of bulb is in the clear corner lights (On the outside of the headlights) on an LJ78? I haven't been able to get the assembly apart yet to check for myself.

I don't know either Fish 78..
But would like to know as well..

Here is a question with this in mind..If or can you use a brighter bulb and use those for running lights?? Instead of burning up the headlights.
I've noticed lots of other vehicles just using running lights not head lights.

I'm using the 1156NA bulb (amber) for my DRL. Not sure about legality, but they seem to work. The originals in my truck were clear (Japanese) bulbs with the white dot on the tip...no part number that I can see, but same orientation as the 1156.

Gord would this be a brighter bulb than the original??

Not sure if it is brighter or not, but appears brighter as it is amber rather than white.

Thanks Gord.

I've just been told by someone who is in the know more than I, that an 1156 bulb is too much candlepower for that park light. Should in fact be a 5w bulb, of the clear variety, specifically, an R5W bulb (clear). I'm investigating using the park lights (with a brighter bulb) as the DRL. Presently, I have been running the 1156NA and driving with my park lights on during the day, until I receive my DRL module.
FWIW

Gord that is what I was wondering. I guess I should have used the term candle power instead of bightness..
So if an R5W bulb is a 5 watt bulb what is the amber 1156's wattage. I'm thinking I would rather run the parking lights than the head lights as DRLs so a higher wattage bulb may be in order.. and if it is brighter or has more candle power the better chance of other divers seeing it..
