Does anyone have any insight as to why my driver side (RHD Cruiser) electric window will only go halfway down and is very slow to return to the up position? The overall speed both up and down is very slow and somewhat jerky. Also does anyone know if parts are available for the electric window mechanism on a 1990 LJ78?
Thanks..............1978HJ45

While none of the remaining windows move quickly, they all move smoothly and achieve full travel in both directions. The drivers window is the only one that appears to have "issues."

I swear ,I will never have electric windows in a landcriuiser:rolleyes:

Thanks guys........Electric windows would not be my first choice either however it is what it is and my options are to repair the window or get used to opening the door more often. I guess having a Cruiser with a 2L-TE makes the window issue somewhat insignificant. .........................1978HJ45

Actually, they are probably the more reliable type of electric windows. They just need maintenance which they dont get until they are on their 3rd or 4th owner.

I cleaned 20 years of gunk from the runners of my 73 series and they glide up and down like new.
If it had of been done sooner ,I probably wouldnt have broken the old manual winder.

I guess I should be somewhat satisfied that 3 out of 4 windows work perfectly on a 20 year old vehicle. I had a 10 year old VW for a short period of time and none of the electric windows worked ( along with numerous other features.) I appreciate the information that the forum members have forwarded.

the electric windows on my cruiser play up after it rains or a deepish water crossing (when water gets into the door) and water gets in the little red relay box that controls the windows, i took mine out opened up the red box and it was full of gunk, cleaned it out, but it was knackered so i got a new one from the wreckers,

was bloody lucky as being a 24volt in australia didnt think id find the part but a local wreckers had one :)

My LJ78 lives a pampered life and of all of the things that may be causing the window issues, being waste deep in water would not be on the list. There hardest thing my Cruiser has done is driving
down a trail to get to some hunting property with 4L engaged.
Thanks for the information...................1978Hj45
