Been thinking of doing a front end mod, something along these lines,
Got bored, though this might interest some...

I just hate the look of the side lights alongside the headlight., and the front signal would be hard to see with a bigger bumper. why not just blank them off altogether? and use HD70 signals?

I thought it might look cool and different. keep em guessing.

cheers

Or perhaps a set of the newer lenses, a little more rounded and lower profile I think. Or something totally different.

I just never liked those corner lights, they dont really do anything either...
Mine light up brighter steady when the turn signal is on, and go back to a marker light when signal is off.

Signals right in the bumper would be better, and just blank that area off as well as the signals underneath the headlights.

Guess Ill be building a bumper now...

Not a city truck, no..

I know what you mean about the factory corner lights. They look too soft and feminine. Maybe you could fill them in with steel like on your second picture, and put signal lights into a custom bumper instead?

Totally feminino.

If HD 70 series body panels werent so hard to find and retarded wxpensive, id just go that route. But I like doing stuff thats different. makes it stand out, makes people look twice and go WTF? Lol.
I think Ill do the blank out thing and the bumper lights, and keep the side marker/signals on the middle of the fender. the socket plastic was rotted out and and theyve been hanging down inside the fender since i bought it. I didnt know they were actual lights until i saw the light flashing down inside the fender one night. lol.

I like the retro look not bad
But I like the way the front of the lj looks
Here is a pic of mine with no grill
Gives me an idea of blacking out the grill and side lights

I like your idea, someone took a brillo pad to one side of mine and it might look better in the bumper.
Mine came with a custom that will fit my winch ,will post a pic when if figure how.
when i get big i want a hood scoop like that, looks fast

Stage 1 complete. Still think Ill replace the lenses and lower signals with metal inserts and body filler to smooth it out. The transition to the top of the grille is the only problem area...
Will probably use rock guard for the final job and run the stripe down the sides and bottom of the doors/rocker panels.

Probably outline the "toyota" and "turbo" with body colour later on...

Dont look too close lol. Still needs a rubber strip around the bottom(sitting in the parts bin) its from a subaru wrx(late 90,s)
I initially wanted to do a top mount cooler but decided front mount would work better(after i already chopped holes in the hood) at any rate it does look good. Thanks

Put down the diamond plating and snips and step away very slowly. :D

HAHA I just looked again and thought the very same.

Im just going to keep it blacked out with maybe a small LED marker in the corner lens.
