Hi everyone Im Alex from Aruba and have had two toyota land cruisers before (95 80series and a fj70)and may buy one once again however i have a few questions before i pull the trigger.

This is a lj73 and its been standing for 3+ years because the owner passed away while the car was being repainted.
So my question is what are the most important things i need to check on the truck? I know its a 2l turbo but not sure what year the car is. If anyone knows where i can see that on the motor would be great too or if i can get it from the vin number. I know its a bit lighter version of the regular 70s.

the engine is a 2lt . look for vin on the right side frame, front. probably is 1985-1989
on my truck I feared rust on body most, second big thing seems to be the engine, they are prone to crack heads . inside truck side panels can be detached and you can see if rear wheel arches are affected by rust.

That generation of 2lt is far less prone to cracking heads than the later versions. I've seen many 2Lt's of that vintage with 100s of thousands of kms with no head problems (they were sold in pick-ups here in Canada).
