Did a few little things recently, since I'm hibernating :crybaby: thought I'd post up.

Got the blue fan clutch from Fred Anderson and it has made a huge difference - esp with the temperatures recently. Very nice cold A/C and no pinging. I didn't use any exotic fluid, just took the 20 mins or so to R&R the old one.

I got a transfer case skidplate from Slee. Yeah I really like the Iron Pig skid and crossmember, but the Slee is plenty enough for me and the price was right. The only thing about it is he ships standard size hardware, not metric; and the frame brace bolt heads through the skid are ripe for getting smashed. I'll get some new ones once it cools off.:crybaby:

Lastly I bought 2 cans of primer, 2 cans of Duplicolor wheel paint, a can of clearcoat, cleaned and scuffed my wheels a bit (they were trashed and corroded), and got some bling! Up close you can see the flaws, but from a few feet away this paint looks awesome!

Those wheels look good Joe. What colors did you use? any other brands other than duplicolor?. I might do the same thing with my 80's wheels...

Hey Juan, I used their graphite color. They also have silver, black, bronze, and white. If you use regular spray paint you have a boatload more choices obviously, but I don't remember any other brands for wheels.

I meant to say if you used any other brands. Basically what I wanted to know is exactly which kinds did you use.

Hey Juan, sorry I misunderstood. I used a Duplicolor gray sandable primer; then the Duplicolor graphite wheel paint; then Duplicolor wheel clearcoat. I did two coats of each, maybe a little extra on the graphite paint.

Not sure how this paint is different than regular spray paints, they make claims abount high temp etc.

They actually look great. Even got some homies asking me about them..............

Looks great Joe!

The wheels look really nice (especially considering how pitted they were to start). Just curious, how long did the prep work take?

One other question, what is the big deal with the blue hub fan clutch? I searched the forum and found info about upping the viscosity of the fluid, adding fluid etc. to the blue hub, but I'm curious why the blue hub is better than the original. Is there a design improvement in the clutch?

Hey Clint, I sanded the outer face of the wheels while they were still mounted: like I said, they are hardly perfect. That took ~15 mins per wheel. Then I dismounted them, rough-sanded the inner surface, cleaned them good, and painted. That was another hour or so exclusive of painting.

The blue hub fan clutch seems to have greater oil flow == better operation than simply cleaning/refilling an old one.
