I am trying to decide between running rhino linning tough grip or Line-x on all my plastics and on my bumpers. Any opinions or knowledge on the differnece between the two?

I had i z-71 with line-x on my ranch hand, never had any trouble with cracking or it comeing off and it has lifetime warnety!

i had rhino on previous vehicle but went with Line-X on my Dodge Ram 4x4....rhino is softer and more cushiony....therefore with heavy sharp objects it tends to lose pieces as it gets cut or gouged. Things do not slide in it easily though as it is soft and grippy.
The LineX is hard and has a course sandpaper grit feel to it....I had a small disc blade in back and another time a tiller machine...they slid in back and slammed up against the front of bed and only made a scratch. With Rhino it would have torn or cut or gouged it badly given my previous experience. It is very hard but also allows items to slide more easily in bed of truck.

I would recommend the Line-X especially for durability and abrasion resistance....

thanks for the info

I went with Extreme Liner on my previous FJ 62, they are similar to line-x but they say that there product is 5x harder and therefore more scratch resistant and 5x less likely to have color fade. Plus they were like $500 dollars cheaper.

I've never heard of extreme liner. Where can you get it? I posted this same thread up in the blue forum and got a lot of input. Line-X was recommended over rhino lining by everyone. I'm going to be doing my front and rear bumper with line-x. I may even do the entire truck once the paint goes bad and rust becomes and issue. I could be wrong, but I don't think either line-x or rhino lining can be used on plastic. I'm pretty sure it only binds to metal. I hope I'm wrong because I'd love to to do the plastic trim too. Let us know if it can be done, but I'm pretty sure it can't.

i talked to the line-x dealer today and they said that it will bond to anything except plastics, they said what is normally done is they pull the plastics off and spray where the plastics used to be. Dont know if thats a good idea or not, will be calling the rhino lining people to see if their's is any different. And will keep everyone posted.

Just talked to the Rhino Lining Dealer and they said the it will bond to plastics, there is a special mixture of the liner that they do for plastics so that is apparently the only option for doing the plastics of my truck. I will be buying the bushwacker flares and hopefully within the next month or 2 be doing the spray on my truck. Will let everyone know how it comes out.

There's some incorrect information here.

HA! That's TOTAL bull, I have the technical specifications of Xtreme and LINE-X. Also, LINE-X has an optional product called Xtra. Xtra resists fading and loss of gloss, is more stain and scratch resistant, and is fortified with Dupont Kevlar for extreme durability. Neither Xtreme or Rhino offer such a product. Rhino has a UV topcoat, but it is not as durable as Xtra.

LINE-X CAN be applied to plastics. The trick to plastics, no matter what the brand, is to totaly encapsulate the plastic if possible. If not, it might be best to apply LINE-X SF515 primer to the plastic depending on the type of plastic.
