im about to do my body panels and im starting to talk to people about line-xing the whole body like a few have done on here. but im not sure if a hard top will work with line-x due to being thick i just cant see it sitting right on the panels or the fiberglass top sealing to the sides of the hard top.

if i sell the hard top and ambulance doors i have money to go ahead and due the line-x almost, but i also like the idea of having a hard top. im not to big of fan of the soft tops (no offense to anyone). i got a steal on my hard top and doors so ill come out ahead if i sell them

i have another question tho, if i sell the hard top, i will have a roll cage in it, how would a soft top work with it? for the most part the soft top would always be off but for trips that are far away id like something to put on so i would not worry about the whole vehicle inside getting covered in water or if its supposed to rain i dont wanna be cought w/ out a top.

if i decide to sell the hard top, what should i ask for it and the ambulance doors? no rust, glass is good, only flaw is tiny dent in one rear ambulance door size of a penny.

right now im planning on biege line-x like the one member on here has, but silver has been in the back of my mind and so has red. problem w/ red is im afraid it'd faid to pink.

thanks for the help

If you get color matched Line-X, it should be done with their Xtra coating. It costs a little more but it's worth it. The Line-X Xtra coating has a dupont UV protectant in it that resists fading. So any color you choose should look the same 10 years later (save any wear and tear) and won't fade.

There's a guy in Fort Worth that does a really good job. He did the bed of my Tundra and gives a forum discount if you mention a forum that he is on. Here's a link to some pics of a Tacoma he sprayed:

Bumpers!!!!!!!!! -

Not sure why the customer chose to skip the rear bumper and the inside of the bed.

that actually looks really good. if i do red, i will be doing freeborn, plan on sticking to some OEM color. you got a number for the shop? houston doesnt have a line-x dealer so i figured dallas is where ill be taking it any ways.

Here's his website and he has more pictures on there. Several Heep full sprays there too.
Line-X Spray-on Truck Bedliners, Fort Worth, Texas, Arlington, Fort Worth, Hurst, Weatherford, Dallas, Saginaw, Burleson, Cleburne, Azle

Be sure to mention that Tundra forum for the discount.

The weather in Houston is too humid for Line-X to be sprayed so that's why there aren't any dealers there anymore. There is one in San Antonio, but they require the vehicle to be left in their humidity controlled building overnight to be sprayed. When we had a few Tundras sprayed, they had all 3 Tundra beds sprayed in about 5 hours or so.

I did the entire outside of my rig about 3 years ago and I take the top off every summer. Just make sure that the door hinges are removed or cut properly during the curing process. I had the top lifted on blocks high enough to allow the underlying lip to be coated while it was sprayed. It looks fully finished with or without the top.

I was curious is it hard to clean with the rough surface? I was thinking about doing it to but didn't want the rough surface. I would love the durability but want a smooth final surface. The interior of my 40 is Hurcaliner and I H8 it. Too rough, hard to clean and is wearing out / fading.

ive always used simple green on truck bedliners and let it soak for a couple minutes, all of it usually just comes right off and looks new again. only downside on the interior i can think of is you will have to hose it out or vacuum to clean it since the rough texture will tear up a rag

from what i am told, line-x xtra has something in it so it does not fade, not sure about regular line-x since im not interested in black.

Regular black Line-X will fade in the sun. They have a spray you can get from the dealer to prevent fading. IIRC, you have to apply it twice year and then wipe it down. I think that's what the dealer said to another guy when I was in there.
