Just bought a 2006 LC with factory JBL and Nav and discovered the previous owner removed the subwoofer and enclosure leaving me with a four wire plug that I presume was where the factory sub plugged in. I plan to hook up an aftermarket amp via a line output converter to a set of 8" subs. Can someone please explain how to do this? I've searched and most have cut the wires from the subwoofer. Picture of the plug and 4 wires (wires are all blue, one has a red stripe, yellow, black, and white.

I'm not sure what you're asking. You will need to cut the wires to splice into new components. The wires with the white stripe and black stripe are the + signal and those with the yellow stripe and red stripe are the negative. If you've searched using the term subwoofer you know there are many threads and posts on just what you are doing. With two 8 inch subs back there you'll have lots of bass when you're done!

The question was directed on how to hook up the line output converter to the plug with the the four wires. I think you answered my question. Thank you!

Splice the subwoofer wires & connect it to the input of the line out converter wires. The output of the inverter should have rca ports. Connect rca jacks: 1 end in the converter, the other to your amp.

Now to power your aftermarket amp. Get the amp kit. Remove the rear driverside panel. The thick red power wire has to be fished from the battery, thru the firewall, down behind the kick panel, under both door trims to the rear of the truck. That's your power. For the remote wire, tap into your cigarette/charger connect the remote wire there. & just ground the black wire to the body of the truck. Amp should come on when you turn the key & cut off when you take the key out.

Perfect timing on this. I wanted to know the same thing. Getting ready to add some additional bass as well.

Cruiser470: Can you give me more information on your sub choice and how you plan to set everything up...like where you are mounting your amp and what enclosure you're using for the subs? THANKS!!!

I'm just using some Amp my brother let me use temporary and a 12" mtx sub. Bass is sick but not to loud that is drowns out the sound of the factory radio. I got it just right. Has a factor sound if you standing outside but inside the bass will beat your back out. I like to feel my music as well as hear it

That's perfect. What I'm going for. Have any pics of your setup? Where did you mount your amp? I assume you have a box that fits behind the 3rd row?

Right now my amp is on the floor & my box is right beside it. I'm about to open the quarter panel where the old sub is & mount the amp there. The design of the box is when my seats are down it fits perfectly. I'll take pics in the morning

Ill get you some pics as soon as I put it all in. I'm going to run two JL 8w3s in their microsub enclosure and and a JL xd300/1. I took the setup out of my 4Runner and it sounded really good and doesn't take up much space at all.
