Hey everyone
I am new here

I am thinking to purchase my first welder, to make a few projects around the house, So far I found a Lincoln AC 225 Arc welder at Lowes for $299.

Checked CL, but not so much luck.
$299 is a really nice price. What can I expect from this welder?

What about the Evertlast PowerArc 300
Tha one is 300 AMP DC at 60% duty cycle and 100% at 240 Amp
But I am to so sure about the Everlast Brand

What do you think?

I would hold out for a wire feed... Stick welding is much harder and although I think it's kind of fun, it's not as useful for welding on a cruiser. It makes uglier welds and it's harder to use then a MIG or wire feed would be.

You can find used wire feed welders on CL for around that same price and I think for your first welder you'll be much happier.

Thank you guys for your help.

MIG welding sounds kind of fun, but I forgot to mention that I will be welding out side, I know that I can always use flux core wire, is kind like the same as Arc only that stick is cheaper.

Hold out for the AC/DC version for a few $$ more.

Yeah wait for ac dc version. I bought the ac version and the rods stick often due to my noobie about welding. Then I bought another ac dc version (tombstone, bigger and at least 5x heavier) and it is much easier to work with. Easier to scratch start and less sticky.

I would love to have a old tombstone :)

big and heavy

I was thinking the same thing wait for a AC/DC version of the Lincoln, but that is like 550 plus tax.

The Lincoln is 20% at 225 Amps $612
The Everlast is 60% at 300 Amps $500

I got my tombstone on craiglist for $180 but i had to drive 50 miles to pick it up and another $20 to unload it.

I picked up a smarter tool 200A DC stick from Home Depot web site. It's an inverter model so only 16 lbs. Got it for $200
