My Mrs.left the handbrake on while driving our Lexus LX-470, she said she only drove about 1km. When she stopped and got out she noticed a puff off smoke that came from under the car. She thought it was the handbrake being so hot? She went and did her shopping but when she returned to the car it would not start. She rang me and told me the story and I told her i would come and get the car going. I took a jump pack and a small battery with me but found the alternator was not putting out any voltage and the battery being flat would not keep the car running when I removed the jump pack so I fitted the small battery, it then started and ran OK. I noticed that the brake warning light, T-belt light,transmission light, air filter light and battery light were all on but the car felt OK and it was only 2km to get home and all went well. I charged the 4 WD battery over night and was hoping that it would take care of some of the warning lights but it didn't? I havn't yet replaced the alternator but I did the T-belt myself only 4 months ago, as for the air filter light, transmission temp. light, battery light and brake light can anyone enlighten me please?
