what are your impressions so far? Have you tried any of the filters yet?

I am very pleased........
The lights are well made and produce an impressive amount of light. I have looked at filters but have not purchased any yet.
I am installing the HID version of the same lights on my HJ75 and suspect they will be substantially better than the halogen version.

A friend of mine has been using the combo filters lately and theyre genius!! If i had a set i would only run those..

Lightforce lights are great, although ive never seen the HId variations in real life, they should be awesome

We hot wired the HID's to a battery just to take a look. The amount of light emitted was almost painful to look at even at an angle. :D

Are you able to take some pics from behind the lights, maybe comparing the 100w halogen to the HID's? Hard to get an idea how much light they throw from in front of the truck. Did you go with the 35w of 50w HID's? I had a set of 170 strikers w/ 100w halogen on my Surf, loved them, considering them again in 50w HID flavor for the new HDJ81.

I have 55w HID 240's on my HDJ81. Output is incredible, warm up time is annoying if they're tied to the high beams, so I would recommend putting them on a switch.

I have 55W bulbs. I am currently out of the country but will try take some photos when I get home.
In my opinion, with all things equal, the halogen lights actually shine further down the road than the HID's but the HID's provide much brighter light for the distance in which they shine if that makes sense.

Would you get the 240's over the 170's again if you had to do it over? HID warm up time was not something I had considered, thanks for pointing that out. Have you ever posted pics that show the 240's really well that you could direct me to?

So the HID's have better "fill" you could say? That does make sense, thanks for the feedback.

Better "fill" is exactly how I would describe the HID's. My guess is that the warmup time is in excess of 10-15 seconds which wouldn't be an issue in off road activities but could be a nuisance in traffic. I have halogen bulbs for my lights in case I decide to swap over at some point in the future.

Unfortunately I don't have a camera with enough resolution to accurately show you what you are requesting however I believe you would be happy with any Lightforce product regardless of the type of bulb. (Halogen or HID)

Thanks for the info! 10-15 sec is a long time for the lights to reach full brightness, especially when having to switch on and off on public roads, I think the halogen setup might be better suited to my needs.

As I mentioned earlier, I am going to run the HID's for a month or so to evaluate them but I already have halogen bulbs standing by. It's hard to find fault with halogen 170's on my BJ74.

because four 170's are better then two :grinpimp:
* center two are adjusted for narrow beam and the outer two at a wider beam pattern.
Fills the gaps nicely

best lights I've ever owned. I prefer the halogen color temps

I'd probably go with the larger 240's if I only ran a pair.

Keep in mind HID's would be less taxing on the e system
But I run dual batteries and a HO alt without concern.

Don't think I have any night visuals to share tho' :(

I want to see where I am going and possibly see a deer before it becomes a hood ornament but don't want to visible from the International Space Station.:)

I do, as long as the beam does not blind the astronauts, lolz.

I'm sure both NASA and the astronauts appreciate that. :)
