..any good reccomendation for lightweight black wheels that don't cost a fortune (read: Mo's :grinpimp:n Mojaves)? When I move to ATL, I will need two sets of tires. Prob. some swampers and then also my street ATs. I want to keep my steelies for the trail set and get some lighter black wheels for the street (to aid in braking, MPGs, accel., etc,).

Any recommendations? Or better yet any of you have any to sell me cheap?

thanks,

Smit

I love the Mojaves but I have to admit they hurt the wallet a good bit. If I had to do it again I might go with these. They are half the price and look good.

I still say you should stay here though. :flipoff2:

Smitt, there's no such thing as "LIGHT AND CHEAP" lol
The factory alloys would be your best bet.

I agree. CHEAP SHOULD READ USED. I ain't skeereda no used stuff.....read my introduction post. LOL

More on that to come.....I am sure going to miss you guys dammit.

I am seriously considering those. I like the looks and the price is about the best I am going to find. Here is my struggle. I can only get one mod for my B-day on the 31st ($500 would be the max). My choices are: 2nd set of wheels, extreme aire compressor or snorkel. I really really want a snorkel. My free restaurant CO2 tank is about to go away. I will be DDing my rig for a while and want the performance, although slight, increase of lighter wheels (I can really feel the heavy steelies, always have). I will need a set of very aggressive off road tires eventually to go along with the Southeast terrain. Therefore I have no idea which I need 1st. I am about to drive her across country and would love to have a compressor at hand, a snorkel for driving across the desert, and lighter wheels to save some gas $.

Which would you guys go for?

I am all about self sufficiency so would go for the compressor. The others won't get you home.

Now that Dave mentions it I would go with black painted factory alloys if I had it to do over again and spend the money on something else.

Snorkel will only set you back $280. What are you going to do with the other $220?

The best I have found was $330 @ 4wheelparts. Kurt was next at $350 on his website. $280 sounds much better. Can you lead me in that direction?
Thanks.

Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters is now $350? It was $280 when I bought mine. AUD must be up against the USD.

Yup, between the dollar trade and increase transportation costs, the latest ARB price guide bumped snorkels big time. It looks like 4WD Supply hasn't update their site since the last price increase. I would give it a go :D

PS, I do have them in stock if anyone is in a real hurry.

Kind of figured that Kurt - Your service and response on the open board reaffirms a great vendor tho!

Got stickers?

I bet these wheels are light:

Aren't those the ones Michelin is working on? That could prove to be interesting for the go fast crowd. Not sure how well they would crawl but I would love to seee it.

Cool, I wonder if you can change the tire portion when it wears out, or are you stuck with the only rim and tire combination.

It appears you can replace the tread, but it sounds like it is a re-tread procedure. "Re-cap"

Sorry to hi-jack your thread Scott. Have you decided what to do yet?

Appologies as well Smit, end hijack.

My dilemna is over.....I am enjoying being enlightened as everyone else shows off new technology!

So I told my wife about the rising snorkel costs and told her to not worry about the snorkel and I ordered up an Extreme Aire compressor (I really WANT a snorkel but that bling can wait until the NEEDS are taken care of and air is def. a NEED). So I send my payment off to the guy that Mo recommended on the extreme aire (who by the way has the best price around....about $430 after tax and shipping). Later that day my wife says to me "You should ask for money from your parents for your birthday." I thought that this was odd so I pryed out of her that she got me the snorkel too :D(she doesn't know about the compressor and I am not going to tell her so as to not stress her out as we are moving and such). She got 4wheelparts to price match (they will do 110 % of the lowest advertised price) a website that she found that had them for $299. The site that Dave linked has it for $299 but in all of her googling and research, she never found that site. It is backordered from ARB until mid-Aug but will drop ship from the warehouse when it comes into the states. I am not 100% sure that I will ever get it though since I am dealign with 4WP and I am counting on them trying to jack up the price by the time it gets here (based on previous experiences with them). owell if that happens, I will just tell them to forget about it and move on:grinpimp:.

So all in all it could be a very good birthday......costing way too much $. I will be selling some things on ebay soon I guess. Anyone need some old school Air Jordans, Rare Chick-fil-A ties, or a David Duval Scotty Cameron putter?:)
