My '04 liftgate latch motor started sounding like it was struggling to draw in the door. So, I took everything apart to clean it out and ensure smooth operation. Long story short I realized that you have to reset the computer after unplugging the latch motor assembly. So I didn't totally screw up! The latch lock works perfectly now. On to my new problem.
While I had the liftgate all apart, I decided to clean out the lock cylinder as it was getting all gritty and hard to turn. Took this out, cleaned her up and slapped it back together. The cylinder is engaged nicely in the little electrical connection as evidenced by the doors locking and unlocking as the key is turned right and left respectively. Now to my question: What stopped working is the window rolling up/down with turning the key right/left. The fob rolldown feature doesn't work now either- the beep is audible as normal when you hold down the fob window button, but the window does not roll down. Another thing, the dash button for the rear window works, but differently. Before, a couple second hold on the dash button caused the rear window to roll all the way up, or down. Now, the dash button must be held down the whole time to make the window move up or down. This leads me to think that unplugging the rear lock cylinder caused the computer to reset to some default setting regarding the back window. Disconnecting the battery to reset computer does not change this.
Any experience on this matter? Much obliged if so.
