hey i was looking to buy a 3in lift kit for my fj cruiser i was wondering what would be a good one to buy??

OME with king shocks or similar in the rear

ome is good i went a different way with easy lift consists of ome rear spring (med) for better towing and less body roll and 3 inch specers in front that go above the coils so it doesnt pre load spring and maintains real good ride quality.

I have the OME heavy front and Medium rear coils and shocks. I'm really happy with the lift. At about 2.5in it is just the right height for me and it doesn't put a bunch of stress on other parts like a 5 or 6in lift does. It requires no additional modification. Just install and have it aligned. If you want to shell out the big bucks, look at the Sway-a-way setup, the FOX setup, or the Walker Evans lifts. They are all fully adjustable very high end kits. But IMO you cant beat the price of the OME kit.

You can ask the question and get a hundred different answers.

What equipment do you want to add? Bull Bar? Winch? rear bumper?

What type of wheeling will you want to do? Dirt road trails? Rock crawling? Desert racing?

There are so many variables, but most of us can agree to stay away from spacer lifts.

I run Old Man Emu (as do most of us). They are one of the better priced kits, and last the longest (some say up to 100,000 miles).

There are other companies such as Icon (Donahoe), Fox, and King that are adjustable and rebuildable, but have to be done at regular intervals (35,000 miles).

If I did it again I probably would of picked the King 2.55 W/ remote reservoir. They keep cool enough to keep the spring out of the ride on hot days and long trails. The only drawback is you have to pick rear springs for load, height, and coil rate. They are almost identical to the Fox W/ smaller internal differences.

But....You probably will be happy with the OME if you are doing general wheeling, or wheeling as part of the learning process.
