Nevada: Senator Segerblom Determined to Bring Draconian California Firearms Ban to Nevada and Assemblyman Horne Wants Gun Owner Money

Gun Bans and Tax Schemes Introduced – Your Action Needed NOW!
Senate Bill 396 was introduced last night by anti-gun Senator Tick Segerblom (D-3),while another anti-gun measure, Assembly Bill 234, has been introduced by Assemblyman William Horne (D-34). Contact your state legislators IMMEDIATELY and urge them to oppose these assaults on your fundamental right to self-defense.
Senate Bill 396 is a Feinstein-type gun ban that seeks to effectively eliminate most commonly owned semi-automatic firearms and magazines. As previously reported by the NRA-ILA, Segerblom has launched an all-out attack on gun owners this session and is determined to take away your rights! His bill covers the full gamut of anti-gun measures seen across the country lately, including the following:

§Prohibits the purchase, sale or transfer of commonly owned semi-automatic firearms under the political misnomer “assault weapons”, and makes a violation of any of these provisions a felony.
§Prohibits the purchase, possession, sale or transfer of “large capacity magazines” – meaning standard capacity magazines capable of holding ten or more rounds.
§Prohibits the purchase or possession of “metal piercing bullets” which is a clear attack on all ammunition.
§Criminalizes private transfers of firearms by requiring background checks on firearms transfers unless the person receiving the firearm has a Concealed Carry permit.
§Prohibits a person convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence from owning firearms.

At this time, limited information is available on this bill. Your NRA-ILA will continue to send updates as details become available.
Another anti-gun measure, Assembly Bill 234, introduced by Assemblyman Horne, would impose an excise tax on every Nevada firearms dealer who sells firearms or ammunition to consumers within the state. Dealers will be mandated to charge a $25 tax for every firearm sold and 2 cents for each round of ammunition! The anti-gun author of this bill is punishing the exercise of a singled-out constitutional right. While the NRA supports reasonable steps to fix the broken mental health system in our country, singling out law-abiding gun owners in Nevada is NOT the way to achieve this goal. AB 234 also requires background checks on all private transfers of firearms to non-permit holders and authorizes civil action for failure to run a background check. Further, this bill outlaws the mere possession of any “metal penetrating bullets” and any ammunition which is considered to be “tracer or incendiary” in nature, making possession of either a gross misdemeanor. AB 234 has been referred to the Assembly Judiciary Committee.
Your action is needed NOW! Please contact your state Senator and Assemblyman TODAY, and urge them to oppose SB 396 and AB 234. You can find your state Senator and Assemblyman and their contact information by clicking here. You can also submit your opinion on Nevada legislation by clicking here and selecting the appropriate bill number.

Done!!

There eff'ers are KILLING ME!!

It is Reno and Vegas controlling the vote

Liberalism is a disease of the mind. I was ashamed Nevada reelected Reid and Obama. It's not just Californians screwing up the state, I know a fourth generation rancher from Northern Nevada and the youngest kids voted for Obama. It made him sick.:bang:

Yeah I dont know that it is necessarily limited to just those counties anymore.. My wife and I are pretty young (early thirties) and we both voted against those two morons. My wife even talking with some of her clients found that most did not vote for either. I have a feeling that the younger, "entitled" generation is voting for these idiots because then they are getting something for free. My wife's family and extended family is pretty large and ranges in age. We found that most of the ones in their twenties seemed to favor Obama and Reid simply because they were under the impression they were doing more for the younger generation.

(soapbox)

As a state worker, working specifically on the Healthcare Reform Act for Welfare, I see exactly what is going on and how screwed up our medical system really is going to be. Doctors make good money because they did MANY years of school in a very challenging field to try and save lives, hence they should make a higher wage (just like I believe our troops, veterans, etc that protect us and give us the ability to live our lives the way we see fit should make more than some moron that just happened to have the physical prowess to run a piece of leather, round or oblong, down a field). Yet with these changes we are going to see a large decrease in our medical profession because doctors are going to be the ones held accountable when some dip**** decides to not pay for his medical expenses (see accountability).

My wife and I have said it for a long time, we are going to hell in a handbasket with these "high school" popularity contest elections we keep having. And one day the koreans, chinese, someone will see how much of a joke we have really become and attempt to take advantage of our own laziness and stupidity.

(/soapbox)

Done! Also, got my CCW last week finally. I only talked about it for 2 years

Fortunately for us, stupidity eventually hurts, no matter how much nanny government tries to stop it. Unfortunately, in this case, stupidity is going to hurt all of us, but with luck, the truly dumb will all either die off, or wake up and we can put this train back on the right track.

CA resident here, fight that crap as much as you can. we got fxxxed and have been fxxxed for a while. it would suck to see you guys have the same BS restrictions im under. oh and speaking of guns, anyone want to buy a complete lower CMMG AR-10? it would have to be FFLed with paperwork but ill accept trades or cash. anyway, PM me

SB221 is moving on to the assembly.

Hearing?
Or vote?

Important difference, this late in the session bills can move very quickly.

If it's an assembly hearing we should have a last chance to testify against it.

An identical version of the bill has to pass both houses to be eligible for a full floor vote,

Any last amendments we can put in helps to run the clock out as it would have to go back to the senate again.
----------
EDIT: I called the legislature since the NELIS site was not clear.
Next step is the assembly floor for assignment to a committee.
That will probably be the Ways & Means Committee due to the fiscal impact.
It could also be judiciary Committee do to it's impact on and conflict with other laws.
it might even go back to Health and Human Services.

A public hearing is REQUIRED when it gets to that next committee!
This will be our LAST CHANCE to testify against SB221, this is the one where we need HUNDREDS to show up.
No date set yet.

If we can prevent it passing the next committee vote it dies.
If the committee amends it, it has to go back to the senate for concurrence.
If the committee passes it the next stop is a full floor vote of both houses.
It could and should die there, but with the D's majority that is not assured.
I just confirmed that SB221 has been "Interpreted" to not be a tax measure, SO IT ONLY NEEDS A SIMPLE MAJORITY FOR PASSAGE!
This is flat out wrong, weather the Fed (Tax) is $30.00 as claimed or the $60.00 that reality dictates a "Fee" is a TAX!
That the "Fee' does not go to the that state (for now) does not make it any less of a tax on the persons paying those "Fee's". (Taxes).

Here is a link to the current language, https://www.leg.state.nv.us/Session/77th2013/Bills/SB/SB221_R2.pdf

I do not want to have to count on Brian Sandoval to veto it.
The "Mental health" sham portion is only there to make it uncomfortable for our governor to veto, it's a nasty little political trick.

Write to everyone.

I w written and gone to the hearings on this DAMN bill so many EFFIN times!!!!
This just will NOT go away!!

I'm actually really starting to hate libs!!
They FU&K UP EVERYTHING that I love about this country!!

taxes

They want everyone else to pay for all this welfare but come to mevada to avoid state income tax... Double standard.
