* I have a 1994 LC with 175k miles that started blowing/leaking a large amount of oil out of the lower right hand side of the timing cover. At fist, it was hard to tell where the oil leak originated because the underside of the engine/compartment had a lot of oil dripping off it (high-pressure leak?). After towing it to a repair shop, they were able to remove the cover through the bottom (as opposed to a head job) and think the oil leak originated from the oil galley plug and ball, which are directly under the spot of the cover that was leaking.

The real problem we are having is the 1/2 in ball that is swaged into the block seems to have oil continually leaking out of it. It is not a lot of oil, but after cleaning it out with brake clean and letting it sit for a few minutes, it will seep oil (without engine running). This explains the high-pressure oil spray and why the timing cover gasket failed where and how it did. The bad news is that this seems rare for this to happen and it is proving difficult to impossible to find someone with some experience or knowledge who can recommend a permanent repair solution.

Does anyone know someone or somewhere I can find a repair solution?

From what I understand, this is the closest I can find to your situation. If not please post and hopefully someone will be able to help you.

Matt,
Thanks for the reference! Same exact thing happened to me (cruising the interstate and saw/smelled burning oil), but he never posted his solution. I'm also hoping to make the repair without having to pull the engine like he suggested he may do. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but appreciate the suggestion!

Yes he did. Read post #34. The repair is covered later in the thread.

Thanks Matt!
The pictures and description from Dan's Saga were hauntingly familiar. I will perform a deeper investigation in the next couple of days and hope it is just the plug and not the ball that is causing all the trouble.
