my transfer case has sprung a leak where the v-8 crossmember bolts on. Are there any products that I can put over that (like a caulk) that would be a temporary solution? I suspect some of the threads are stripped... my buddy bolted it on for me and said they were 'tough' to get in there. I know they aren't cuz I have done it before. Moron :slap:

Thanks

lol, not really, I just fixed mine yesterday, i just put it together like 6 months ago, but no gasket seal on one seal and it leaked slowly.

guess it would depend on how many are stripped? if you had maybe at least three good ones spaced around the circle you should be able to get it to seal, use a little sealer. IF you have alot stripped, look into the different mount period, take the strain off what few bolts have threads, and just let them hold the cover and seal on. Should be able to go with a mid mount off the adapter (most have this built into the adapter) or trans.

Three stripped...

any links to these different mounts?

A midmount crossmember would depend on what adaptor he is running between the tranny and tcase. On my 1" plate adaptor, there's not really any way to go midmount...

yuck, i hate aluminum other then to hold my pop and sometimes my beer in. Well other ways are maybe retap, those heily(sp) coil things(i FN hate these), worst is a new case.

The mid mounts would probably be custom in most cases, i have seen one or two companies that sell a mid mount but dang if i remember who, and what applications they were for.

I have a old AA adapter th350 to lc, about 1.5" long and its bottom tapped so it can use a mount, plus the th350 can accept a mount.

I think i might have a few more words with your buddy, LOL.
