OK I am still a LC virgin (a week and a day) But have been driving it extensively. Wish I had bought one years ago. Anyway, I noticed a popping sound when I turn right or left, it's not consistent and doesn't always happen. So today I had my friend look at steering while I turned right and left, producing the popping noise a couple times. He said my leaf springs at the front were shifting very slightly, like 1/8 of an inch when I turned. Not loose in the shackle but the whole stack was shifting a bit. Is that normal? How do I fix? Thanks for input!

There is a bolt through the centre of the stack that holds the whole thing together. It locates into the pad the springs sit on. That may be broken. I imagine you'll have to remove the spring pack by undoing the bolts at both spring hangers and check it out. These bolts will be very tight.

Once the spring is off, check the centre bolt is not broken, or showing signs of excessive wear from the movement you describe and go from there.

Another clunk sound that comes from the front end, which I am assuming you are talking about, it a loose wheel bearing. That needs tightening up. Instructions are in a paper manual you can buy, or download the online manuals available via the links on the forum.

mine pops from time to time. ome before dakar. 9 years on it with no probs.

OK I looked at that thread and mine isn't popping up at the shackle but maybe two or three leafs down it kinda shifts back and forth, but only like 1/8 of an inch if that, just enough to send a metallic clunk into the steering wheel. Sound like a big deal?
