Hi All,

Are the leaf spring bushes used in the latest models of the 70 Series (e.g. 2000+ HZJ78) the same diameter as the earlier 70 Series (and 60 Series) leaf springs? They are not the same part for sure, but I believe the diameter should be the same.

Thanks

Hi All,

Yes and no. The OD is the same (40mm) but the pin size and shoulder width can be an issue year dependent, especially on the fixed end of the rear spring. In mid 2009 Toyota changed back to a thicker (18mm) fixed pin up from 14mm. If you used take-off new bushes from a few vehicles you might be able to use some of them. Easier just to buy the right parts from Toyota.

Thanks - I'm only after the OD of the bushing. Reason I ask is that I'm considering changing the bush mounting bracket on my BJ60. The metal tubes/eyes on the front of the chassis are very slightly oversized. I don't feel it's an issue yet as the bushes are still reasonably tight, but I'm looking at options to get new tubes. I doubt the original brackets for the 60 are still available, so I was wondering about the rear spring hangers on a current model 70 Series which are of course available.
