Hi, my Landcruiser 100 series 1998 just doesn't want to start sometimes. It has plenty of crank and just turns over and over sometimes it is ten minutes before you get going. I have had the fuel filter and fuel pump recently replaced and also the crank angle sensor replaced but it still does the same thing. Very frustrating, i just want it fixed. Pleeeease has anyone got any answers. Help me. Ps l even contacted my local toyota dealer and they did not have any idea. Cheers Deano

Replace the EFI fuse under the hood. A good fuse with less than optimal current can mess with the security system and cause cranking without start.

I just experienced the same problem in my 2000. I've been considering the same parts that you mentioned. I'll try replacing the fuse. Please let us know how replacing the fuse works out for you.

I have spoken to a mechanic/friend today and he seems to think that replacing the EFI fuse will not fix the problem. But l am going to do it anyway and see if it works. I will be changing it in the next 24hours I have ordered it and waiting for it to arrive. l will keep you posted Deano

Hi guys, just getting back to my starting issues. It would appear it is a problem with my second key which is non genuine and when I insert it into the ignition the imobiliser light does not go off all the time and there is a bit of play with that key inserted. With the original key, it fits in much tighter and and the light does go off everytime. I have spoken to toyota and I can get another original key from them for $50 plus the cutting cost and then it needs to be programed to the vehicle at a cost of ????. So thankyou to all you guys that helped me out on this problem. Cheers Dean
