I have 07 LC100 and GX470. One is already taken over by my daughter and my son will get LC100.
I had both for long time. Do regular maintenance and overall am pretty happy with both.
Which leaves me with a question... What should I get to replace it. Given that kids will be off to college in few years and might not need a car.
Should I just get another GX470? I know the car well and like it.
GX460?
LC200 (Landcruiser or LX)?
GX550?
I value reliability and am not in a rush - got about 9 months to find a right one.
Somewhat concerned about turbo V6 vs. v8. Not sure how proven the tech is long term.
And as silly as it sounds - I like light beige seats on older models and it does not seem like GX550 offers light colors. Am I right?
It would be great to hear about group experience - in particular people who moved from LC100 / GX470 to GX550 (or GX460).
Thank you!

I think all that is importent is that you’re thinking Toyota/Lexus. The reliability on all of those vehicles is for the most part about the same (imo). My wife and I have had a 100, a 460, 2 200’s (1 LX and 1 LC) and I currently have an 80 and a 550 (wife drives a ‘22 4Runner). My 550 has the chateau and I think it’s the lightest interior offered (only OT and OT+) and I love it. Only major surgery on all of those wagons was replacing cvs on the 100 around 165k.

To take into consideration is whether you feel inclined to want more tech. Up to 2015 tech in the 200 is sufficient, but 2016 is better. Same applies in the 460, with the big tech change happening in 2022 my. The tech in the 550 is pretty fantastic, with wireless CarPlay and all, but may be more than some folks care about. The ML audio is decent but not great…everyone has an opinion on it.

I’m happy to answer more questions, as you think of them. My two cents is just from having owned each of the models you mentioned, and I’m happy to help. Dm if you’d like and we can connect offline.

Sounds like you really like the old stuff and that’s fine. I’d recommend just going to test drive something new and see how you like it. The 550 is nice if you reset your expectations and understand it’s no longer really a luxury SUV. It’s a purpose built off roader, with a blend of utility and some luxury elements.

The 200 has a well deserved reputation for being comfortable, capable, and reliable but it’s now a 17 year old platform mechanically and the tech is behind the times as well.

A good happy medium may be a late model 460 (2022-2023) since they refreshed the center stack and tech (CarPlay/AA). This will also drive and handle most like your 470. They are equally comfortable, capable, and reliable when compared to a 200 but can be had at a much more reasonable price point. The 460 definitely offers the most bang for buck out of these options.

I found myself in a similar situation. My daughter turned 16 recently and will take over the 4Runner.
I knew I would be in need of a car. I considered buying a 2nd 200 but didn’t want 2 of the same.
I was basically settled on a 100 and was already planning a mild build. My wife who drives the 200 was encouraging me to go new. I have had a Tacoma, which my son now drives, and didn’t want another. Am not crazy about the styling of the new 4Runner.
I was very lukewarm about the 250 until I test drive one. I swallowed the hook, bought one and have been enjoyed it since. No Regerts.

I saw the GX 550 in caviar a few days ago. Beautiful color.
