I'm looking to upgrade the suspension on my 2013 200. The truck has 172k on the clock with stock suspension, all is still decent, but looking at options to upgrade. Leaning towards Kings, but open to OME & Icon too... Does anyone know of a good suspension tech in the Minneapolis area? With the KDSS system, I'd like to take it to someone that is familiar with the system and off-road suspension in general.

For those that have done this work in the past, how tough is the job? I've rebuilt suspension on old e30 BMWs and did a mild suspension job on a JKU...

IF your KDSS valves aren't locked up (check to make sure you can open them) there is nothing particularly hard or unusual about doing a suspension lift on a 200. I've done my 200, 2 different tacomas, an FJ40, and a few Jeep Cherokees/Grand Cherokees.

You'll need 1/2 drive Metric sockets, a torque wrench, a breaker bar, some tall strong jack stands, a floor jack, and some way to deal with potential rusted/frozen bolts (Grinder, sawzall).

It helps to get your front coilovers pre-assembled if you can, otherwise you need a good spring compressor.

Mechanically, probably not much harder than an e30 or JKU. The parts are bigger and heavier, but that's about it.

I heard these guys were pretty good.

Thanks for the input! The KDSS valves are decently corroded (life in MN). It's funny, the rest of the truck and undercarriage is in good shape. Is it best to plan on replacing the KDSS valves as part of the job?

I love my Dobinsons IMS and highly recommend as a middle ground option.

Kings are really nice but might be overkill unless you’re on trails every weekend IMO

Regarding the valves, start blasting them with penetrant now and take a wire brush to them. Over a few days/weeks it could help and open them right up once time to install. Not sure you can replace them as that requires opening up the system where Toyota would need to fix (ie past 3 turns)

I'll start blasting those valves! I'll check out the Dobinsons IMS - did you purchase direct?
