Guys, I just got off the phone w/ the tranny shop and they are giving it their final effort today...keep you fingers X'd!!!!!! That means they are putting the tranny back in w/ a new governor and governor body (aluminum part).
I've got some layman's terms of what is going on which has helped me to understand and hopefully will jog someone's memory on how to remedy the situation.
Here's the deal...the truck starts perfect in 1st and runs thru 2nd, 3rd, and 4th just fine. But when you come to a complete stop and try to start again the tranny stays in either 3rd or 4th (hard to tell which). The only way for to get it to start in 1st and run thru all the gears again is to physically put it in park for a couple of seconds, then you're back up and running. It seems as though it won't down shift for some reason until you put it in park and release the pressure...that's where it starts getting over my head.
PS: I guess I should add that this is on a freshly rebuilt tranny and it was not doing this before I brought it in
UPDATE: We just got the Cruiser running again with the new governor housing and the new TV cable. Good news... Maybe... But first the bad news. It still didn't work, however the reason it doesn't work changed. Now we have no governor pressure. The things we did had an effect and that is something. Ike wants to continue working with it rather than pack it in. We believe the governor valve may be stuck so we are going to pull it back out and see if that is the case.

Anyway, here's a last ditch effort to see if anyone can provide any insight!!
