I'm looking at some component speakers that have a larger tweeter than the 3/4" one that is stock. Has anyone out there tried replacing theirs with a larger one?

Dimensions on this one are 1-1/8" by 1/2" deep.

I've looked, and see lots of people that have put in replacements that were 3/4", but haven't seen anything about this situation.

I changed tweeters to 1" Polk versions when I updated the front door speakers.

This thing didn't even come close to fitting. I looked briefly at dremeling the wings, but even if everything inside was removed, I don't think it would fit. Anyhow, just a heads up for anyone who wants to try this in the future. They sound good though, even with the stock head unit and amp.

The speakers are Pioneer TS-D1720C.

Alpine SPR-10TW 's fit nicely

Where does the crossover mount?

It has a long wire, so I mounted mine just inside the door with some double sided 3M sticky foam pads.

My crossovers are mounted just aft of the woofers, they're almost touching. I drilled holes in the door and screwed them into place. Double sided tape probably also would have worked, but I had screws and not tape.
