I picked up an old railroad spike half a mile into my first dirty drive this year. took it to my local shop and they said no way to fix, as I expected. Called Slee just incase they had a better idea, but safety was the concern still. So I'm wondering if anyone has had experience fixing, plugging, patching a large hole in the tread of a tire. I'll take a measurment of the hole and update, about nickle size... I'm thinking that I would want this old tire for a low pressure trail only spare on a sixth wheel. 285 75 16 nitto terra grappler on a 100 Series Land Cruiser. I hate to throw away a tire with so much life left! Or maybe I'm stuck with a sweet planter for the yard...
lets see if i can attach some pics...
Thanks,
TimG.

Visit a tyre repair place that does trucks etc. The big issue is whether any of the steel belts have been broken/damaged.

That's a pretty big hole! Especially for a tubeless tyre.

cheers,
george.

With such a large cut on the outside, steel belts will rust, and sepera

Sent from my phone so excuse errors please - using IH8MUD

I'd contact Nitto directly, go to a tire store and see if you can talk to the local Nitto Factory sales rep. Be nice, you never know. You might get a warranty replacement, if has low miles/wear.
