I have no experience with either MT but as a general rule I avoid the many generic made-in-china tire brands. They look the part and are round, but leave a lot to be desired in tread compound and construction. A lot of Firestone tires are the same construction/compound as their Bridgestone equivalent. I know Firestone Firehawk performance tires are basically re-labelled Bridgestone Potenzas for way less money so those MTs may be the same as Bridgestone KM2/KM3s for less.

Thanks, the Firestone are pretty highly rated on line and quite a bit less then gold standard bfg's mt's. I believe I've seen guys running them and if I remember right they were happy with them

If you are wanting a true mud tire thats a good value, check out the Kenda Klever MT2. It's relatively new, and totally redesigned from the original version. Lots of people have had positive experiences with their R/T tires. They are probably somewhere between the no-name Chinese brands and those Firestones in terms of cost for a set.

Folks really seem to like the Yokohama Geolandar MT, although I have not ran a set.

I agree with others and recommend getting name-brand tires. I've been unhappy with ever set of off-brand tires I've had on every vehicle. My rigs usually get Falkens or Michelins.

We ran 35x12.5r17 Yoko Geolander MT G003 for 3 years on our 2007 GX470. Now running the same tire in 37x12.5r17. For winter use, we run 35x10.5r17 Kenda Klever RT studded on factory wheels.

Those were our secondary choice since they look good, we see them around a lot, and have good reviews/price... Since we were so happy over the past 3 years with our Geolander MT G003's, decided to spend the extra $50 per tire to go with them... Actually ended up running them all the way bare to no tread before swapping. Still DDing and offroading aired down every weekend and never popped them. Definitely were cracking and asking the gods to make it home, lol.
