Somewhere with some sort of Cruiser
Not sure would to put this but I wanted to let as many people know as possible. Do not use Landcruiser Restorations in Kansas for paint and body work. I had work done Last year and the paint is so thin and I have multiple spots where rust was just painted over and is now bubbling. Additionally had a plethora of electrical issues arise because there fix was cut and pull on a lot of things. Those are the big points. I have a lot more details If considering them please dm me and we can chat. The individuals that work there are really nice. But end product not great.

Michael we are sorry to hear you are not satisfied with the outcome of the Land Cruiser. We work hard to ensure customers are happy with the end result. Your father was advised after our initial inspection that the Land Cruiser would be better suited with a body swap due to its extensive amount of rust. Provided his budget constraints, we agreed to address body/paint to the best of our ability at a very reasonable price since the cruiser's restoration was a gift to you. Auto restorations are unpredictable as hiccups are usually always found once into a resto. and considering we were working in the middle of a pandemic, your project took long than estimated. Timelines provided to each and every customer are all "estimates". Regarding cost, items found throughout the process were presented to your father to agree or pass on addressing. There were no surprises at the end regarding cost. We did discuss addressing body issues you've recently found but you declined our offer. At this point, there is nothing more we can do other than advise that you (at a minimum) invest in a cover for the Land Cruiser since you are leaving it exposed to the elements in the northwest. Good luck to you Michael.

Yes the response left out a lot of information and states alot of obvious things of a resto that I am not arguing with. However it leaves out the conversations we had over the phone about every "hiccup" and what would be the best way forward. He also assumed that "it was a gift" to me when all that was happening was me and my dad going halfsies as he needed the truck for a couple of photo shoots. Also I had a donor vehicle lined up and he suggested against it. At the end of the day we paid a good amount for an unfinished and poorly executed product.

I just dropped it off at the Landcruiser Shop (excellent guys) in Sandpoint after throwing in the towel on trying to track down an oil leak. And they immediately starting pointing out the "weird" things that where done to the vehicle.

I would bet that most (not all) of Landcruiser Restoration's customers don't do there own work and when I tore down my vehicle's interior to fix the electrical problems they created and put sound deadening and dampening in. It blew my mind all of the discrepancies that I found while in there.

And his offer to fix the problems involved me shipping the vehicle to him ($4k round trip) and paying for materials.

If anyone does decide to use him. Just go over all the work with scrutiny. And if you want more info about my experience feel free to DM me.

Good luck with those guys….Joe talked a good talk but I had to spend several hundred dollars to repair shoddy mechanical work when my 55 got back to Illinois. I had bought it via one of his customers and spent several thousand $$ getting mechanical work done. Major ripoff.

I got my t case rebuilt and a new oil sender line with some thought as no replacement part exists. Not only did I enjoy Joe but I talked to most of the guys in the shop and enjoyed them greatly! Would 100% get beer with each one of them.
