Was the Night Vision system ever available on the 100 LandCruisers. Seems like I hear of it on the LX, but...

Also, wasn't in the FAQ, so asking here.

In Japan...

Seems like it was available only for the LX (Cygnus) model.

Anybody in the US market confirm this? Nightvision ever available on the 100 Cruiser?

I researched it on cars.com, didn't see that option listed for the '03, '05, '07 model years. They consistently mention that it's the slowest selling SUV in Toyota's lineup. I didn't research the Lexus.

maybe CruiserDan has parts access... how much would these cost? what is the video interface? how hard to install?

i would go aftermarket like something Alex Roy has in his Team Polizei M5 before attempting to install the OEM.

Your talking THOUSANDS of dollars

I work for a thermal imaging company....the core alone is several thousands.

My previous employer made HUDs for cars, it was pretty tricky business. The lens on the dash had to match the curve of the windshield to work right, and be positioned properly. The windshield had a special coating on it.

Loud what is the aftermarket that this guys car has on it.

Does anyone have a line on getting the OEM components (or stealer pricing)?

local Lexus parts guy looked on his computer, he goes "are you sitting down?"

Loud - you're pretty close: it's ~$6.6K just for parts (illuminators, sensor & controls) not including a ~$1.1K replacement windshield (specially coated to reflect the HUD image) he didn't know what harnessing might be needed, so that would be a bit more. 02's & up. The (tupperware protected!) illuminators are a couple hundred each, probably not something to go banging around the trail with. this IMHO is a bad retrofit investment

i'd rather have another -40 to restore...

Here are the rough list of some of the major components' costs through Toyota, in Japan:

Night vison projector left: $400-ish
Night vision projector right: $400-ish
Night view bezel: $90-ish
Night view shutter door: $40-ish
Night view shutter: $160-ish
Night view display: $1,400-ish
Night view control computer: $220-ish
Night view wires: $40-ish
Night view computer bracket: ???
Night view camera: $700-ish
Night view camera cover: $80-ish

I'd invest in lasik, awesome aux. lights, and maybe those high-pitched whistle thingys that you can mount on the bumper to scare the deer away, instead of retrofitting the night vision thingy.:hillbilly:

how much does it cost?

or do reasearch at salvage yards and try to find a smashed one which may have the units undamaged. Near where i live their is a car place called auto toy store and they actually had a 05 with the night vision for sale for 45k. now this was last year some time so the price probably dropped by now. any guru's out there find out how many where actually sold in the usa with this option??

Don't do it

screen area is very small to seen anything, so I consider it a distraction and a safety hazard, it came with the truck but never use it

The latest BMW night vision systems are a total different story, very nice to use

cheers

Toyota never offered the LX470 to the Japanese domestic market. Instead, they got the Landcruiser Cygnus grade. Same vehicle minus the badging w/ different S/W for the nav, but the list was only around 5.5 million yen loaded.
