Hello All,

I'm heading to Asheville in July and plan to do a bit of camping with the family (wife + 3 year old daughter). Based on my research, the Lake Powhatan Campground seems to fit the bill. Anyone been there or have any reviews? I'm also open to suggestions.

Also, I saw something about the Brown Mountain OHV trail. My 80 is stock, would it be able to handle what the trail has to offer? Anything good there for the family? Would they be bored or is there a good spot to enjoy a picnic and the view?

Thanks for your input!

Jerramy

Don't know much about Lake Powhatan, but yes you're stock 80 should be fine at Brown Mountain. There's a nice rock bald up at the top that's good for a lunch and a beer...

THanks, Garner!

It's an endorsement, he's trying to get a Savannah based Landcruiser group up. I'll make sure he PM's you... Addicted56 on the forum.

Gotcha. Yes, he's got a group going down here that I've joined. Haven't been able to meet him yet but looking forward to it.

Lake Powhattan

Me, my wife and our two kids (4,2) were up there on Mothers day weekend. Great campsite and lake to enjoy. A bunch of blue hair retirees run the place with their golf carts and Jazzy's, so keep the lanterns on low after 9:00pm or they will drive by and snarl at you and give you a hard time. Great place with clean amenities and large campsites. Enjoy!

I am not 100% pos but I think Browm Mt. OHV is closed down.
