I have the opportunity to get a precision 3D scan made of a 2L-T/2L-TE bell housing to be able to design adapter plates for swapping in different engines and would like to gauge interest in this project. The scan would produce an accurate bolt pattern of the back of the L-series engines and the crankshaft/input shaft centerline that could be used to design custom adapter plates for alternate engine options and would work with either manual or automatic transmissions. I could also likely get a scan of the flywheel/crankshaft bolt pattern and the back of the engine if necessary. The scans are precise down to about 0.001" according to the guy that does them.
Is there any interest in getting info like this? As an example this is the scan I had made of a 5VZ-FE bell housing and the resulting adapter plate I designed for a VW TDI engine:
