Hi guys , after some ideas for trouble shooting. I recently replaced my 1kzte head with a new one .i only removed the head and left the block gbox in the truck . It now won’t start and just clicks from the starter motor and the relay . I’ve swapped both , plus tried a different computer . Good batteries. It’s annoying me cause I parked it 3weeks ago running . Any things to check? Cheers Kev ,chch NZ

When you say good batteries, have they been load tested? I would probably test the voltage at the starter in the off and start positions.
Have you checked all battery leads at both ends? Sometimes the earth can get a bit of resistance on the engine block or chassis.
Is the engine stuck somehow, can it be turned over by hand?
Looked at the trouble shooter in the workshop manual?

Hi thanks for your reply , motor turns over freely as I checked after installing new head , cambelt etc . Well the batteries are fully charged and we’re running in the vehicle 3weeks ago . I tried last night connecting a jumper lead from the negative to the block in case of a bad earth . Also turned the key on and ran a wire from the plug from the starter and just touched the positive on the battery and still the same noice .....

Can you push/tow start it?

If it just clicks it means that the battery does not has enough power or something is killing the power from it to the starter. Try this... Put the car on Ignition, take a battery cable (separate one) and connect it to the starter, just right here:

Then take the other side of the cable and make contact with the positive + of the battery, this will make the starter function immediately.
Be careful to no touch anything else with any of the 2 ends of the cable.
If this works the engine should start.

Hi thanks for your reply . I actually tried that last night as a mechanic friend of mine said the same thing . Still the same clicking noise. I also unplugged the inhibitors switch and bridged it with a fuse to see if for some reason it though it wasn’t in Park . Only other reason I’ve come up with is it has a car alarm siren under the bonnet but I New got remotes or have ever used it in the 9months of ownership . Just weird for that to bugger out now if it is that . If I disconnect/remove all the alarm would this possible help. ?

No idea Kevin, like I said before the Click means that the battery is unable to make the starter start spinning. If does not spin it means that the engine is stuck. I really don't think the alarm has something to do since you already made the bridge between the Battery and the Starter, this will by pass any alarm, but hey you can try doing it.
Now, from what you told us the engine spins freely right? I mean you took a tool directly to the camshaft and made it turn?
You put the gearbox on "P" before shutting it down last time?
