Hey Guys,

I was doing a fluid change on my diffs and transfer case. I noticed my front seal is leaking, very minor right now, from my transfer case. I figure it is time to replace both the front and rear seals on my transfer case. Is this as simple as removing the prop shafts at the u joints and removing a bolt holding the output shaft out of the transfer case (front and rear) using a gear puller and then a seal puller? Or do I need to remove the T case and start disassembling? Would rather tackle this before winter or they start really leaking. Cheers.

Just did mine this year too. Yes, mark and remove the driveshaft. One nut to remove the output flange. The nut is staked though, and Ideally you should get a new one along with the new seals. I think I just pried the old seals out. Pounded the new ones in with some same diameter material I had laying around. Pretty basic job. Make sure to get the torque right on everything. Download Toyota RM183e to get all the details.

Great! Sounds like something I can do in my driveway pretty easily. I'll order seals and nuts on Tuesday.

Thanks, As always, GTS!
