Hi All,

Once again, I am looking at getting some advice from the great knowledge base on here.

I am wanting to change my starter motor on my KZJ78 which is powered by a 1KZ-TE. Is there any secret in removing the starter or a manual that I can find?

I managed to locate the bottom bolt that holds the starter in place and undo it but I cant locate the top nut to undo.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I dont really want to take it to an auto electrician and have to pay to take it out.

Cheers

Sorry mate I don't own the same truck but there must be a inspection cover to gain access to the starter bolt.

You get the other bolt from underneath. You use a socket that is about 2ft long or longer and from the back - you can't really see it. you come in from the back sort of above the gearbox, and should find it....
the only cover or plate to remove is the gearbox protective plate that is bolted to the chassis.

Thank you. I am guessing that the nut on this is the same size as the bolt on the lower mounting bracket. I was trying to remove it last night and I got snagged on the upper stud.
