I have a kzj70 and the starter started to go bad. The mechanic took it out we got it fixed and put it back in. Upon putting it back in he reconnected the oil switch. Now when I start the van after about 10 seconds the oil light would come on. I checked to see if the oil was low and it wasn't but I added some more to see if it would go away but it doesn't seem to. O checked the manual and it indicated that, that light means to add engine oil. Is there anything that could be causing the light not to go away?

This a common thing with KZ Motors. The oil sender has nothing to do with oil pressure, as it is fitted to the sump and only tells you when to add more oil. My Prado light will stay on for approx 5 minutes from a cold start. with a full sump of oil. I had a Toyota workshop test the motor and all good.

Not familiar with the kz but I would guess that the wire may have broken or it may not be making a good connection for some reason. While it may be a normal thing for these engines if it worked before the starter work they are most likely connected in one way or another. I would pull the connector and take a good look at it

@oldblue my light stays on full time. once the van is started it will turn off and then as i start driving and the pressure builds up and then comes back down it comes on. after that it doesnt turn off at all. And i know the motor has enough oil. @Bob Otte ill pull the wires again and check them as i dont see why this would just start coming on now when it has never before. Either that or it was always disconnected, because i realized at one time i was low on oil and the light didnt come on.

I would think if it was disconnected it would always have the light on as well, I think it would fail that way or should imho
I think you will find your issue, good luck
