How much is this bike worth?

Its a KONA Stinky Dee-Lux. Im confused on the year, the guy i plan to buy it from swears he bought it new from a bike shop sell out in 06, but im almost positive the bike is an 02.

I say 02 because of the stickers on the front forks. I quick google search brought this up: Kona Stinky Dee-Lux (2002) Details and Product Specifications - Epinions.com

Thats the exact bike, so i assume 02.

The bike has been used, but not abused. It has its normal rock rash on the pedal/crank. It is also missing one spoke in the rear. The brakes need bled. The rear derailer is gummed up and wont shift into gears 1-4, but i have one that should work.

He wants 600 or to trade for a decent quality mountain bike for his wife.

What say the Mud' bike gurus?

BTW- God is this thing bouncy! I can take 4 ft drops and not even feel it!

geze I wish I could help you... but if it won't "s***" into gears I'm not sure I'm interested. Seriously I don't think 600 is a bad price... I've got too many other projects around I can't add another bike now...

good luck on the sale

:whoops:

I fixed the post!

I bet you could get it for a lot less as it's using some very old forks and no doubt the shock. Suspension technology has seriously changed since 2002. I bet you can't get replacement parts for the Marzocchi fork, either if you have a problem.

Try riding a new long trave bike so you can get a feel for the "modern" ride. Check out mtbr.com, too as you'll get a lot of info to help you decide.

Look around longer, as used bikes are cheap.
