Does anyone in YT have the special tool that's used for setting up knuckle shims when swapping from drums to discs? Is it worth owning one of these things? If you have one do you want to rent it? I have two axles I'm doing the swap on sometime this summer.

I think Kina has that stuff

The tool that tells you if you have the right tension on your shims when you hook it on to where the tie rod end hooks up

This is what it looks like:

The brass pull scale is not with it, I have it here. That's a "taping scale", an old surveying tool for checking tension on a tape when measuring on the ground. Besides the scale (you can use a fishing scale), you'll also need a decent dial caliper, it needs to be longer than a 6" one.

I ended up ordering the tool from the spx.com site today. It's $112 but not in stock. Ship date is 5/26. I have a 12" digital caliper and a fish scale so I should be set.

I bought the scale from Marlin too. I just didn't know if he had the centering tool that Ken posted up about.
