My Master Key is dead. It will start my vehicle, but will not operate the keyless entry. The LED lights do not come on when the buttons are pressed even thought the battery is new. I need a new keyless entry Master and want to buy it from Dan and program it myself.

I want to know if a new Master with Keyless Entry can be programmed to operate keyless entry without physically cutting the key. Can you insert the uncut key into the ignition in order to program it? I can use an existing Master key when turning the ignition on and off during the programming sequence, but then just use the new key when it is to be added.

The reason why I ask this is because I want to make sure the keyless entry receiver works fine before I cut the key. I only have the one Master Key and, as I said, it will only start the vehicle but won't operate the keyless entry.

Zeppelin,

You have to cut the key before you can program it because you have to be able to turn the key in the ignition - Acc Position and On position.

Could I just take the electronic module out of my existing Master key and replace it with a new module in from a new key. Then I could program the keyless entry onto to the new module?

If I had to program the transponder of the new key before programming the keyless entry module, could I not just use my existing Master key to activate the program, then quickly substitute the new module during the add portion of the programming sequence in order to program the transponder of the new module?

I would be using the existing Master key only so it fits in the ignition throughout the process. The computer would not be able to tell that I put the new module into the same physical key. It would see it as a new cut key I believe, wouldn't it?
